My new favorite player : Bobby Scales
Oh, and by the way, the Cubs just swept the Padres in a three game series winning this afternoon 11-3.
But enough about them.
I want to talk about the 31 year old Rookie Bobby Scales. That’s right. 31 years old. You heard me…a rookie.
11 years in the minors. Over 3,000 at bats and finally, Bobby Scales earned a shot in the Show. You would think he’d be a little bitter, but you’d be wrong. He is very genuine in his appreciation for the chance to play, even if it’s potentially short lived. Scales got the call up when Carlos Zambrano went down with a hamstring injury, but an unfortunate injury to Aramis Rameriez last week gave Scales a longer life span, and he is ‘Well obviously by now just about all of you know what has happened to me in the last week of my life. It has been truly amazing and all I can do is point up to the sky and thank the Man for granting me the opportunity after 11 minor league seasons. I also have to thank my family, especially my Wife, Mom, and Dad for the support they have all given me from day one. So many people who I have never met in my life have expressed their well wishes and support. Many people have called my journey “inspirational and amazing.” Thanks but I also would like to remind you that there are thousands of people out there who work hard and persevere every day. I am no different than anyone else out there, the only difference is that my story gets played out for the world to see. I have a ton of stuff to write about but I felt it more important to say a sincere “Thank You” to everyone. taking full advantage of it.” (http://cubsprospect.mlblogs.com/)
He is as down to earth and grounded as a major league athlete can get. I am proud that he’s a cub.
Congrats Bobby Scales. I will be getting your jersey as soon as they become available.
